ResKit 1:35 AH-64 Apache - early pylons is a set of 3D-printed underwing stores pylons for the Meng kit. The set comes without drop tanks and is not a kit - you have to have the base model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of 3D-printed pylons in 1:35 scale from ResKit, intended for the kit of the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter from Meng. A pylon is the beam under the wing on which armament is hung - antitank guided missiles, rocket pods - or a drop tank. The Apache has four such stations on its stub wings, and each one can be tilted in the vertical plane (about +4 to -15 degrees) so that the armament aims correctly even at different fuselage attitudes. It is NOT a kit of the helicopter - it is an upgrade accessory.
Early or late? Watch out for the mix-up. ResKit also issues a set of late pylons for the Apache in 1:35, and that one comes with two large 122 gallon drop tanks (roughly 460 liters). This set is the early one and comes without tanks. The manufacturer does not describe the specific design difference between the early and the late version - what is certain is that the pylons changed during the career of the machine and that ResKit issues both versions separately. Before buying, please compare the photographic record of the particular machine you are building (unit, period, deployment) and choose the right set accordingly. That way you will pick the set that matches your subject.
The AH-64 Apache is the main American attack helicopter. Under the nose it carries the 30 mm M230 chain gun, which can be linked to a helmet-mounted sight - wherever the pilot or the gunner looks, the gun aims. It carries its strike armament on precisely those pylons under the stub wings: Hellfire antitank guided missiles and pods with unguided rockets. Drop tanks can be hung on the same stations as well, used mainly for ferry flights and long-range missions.
The parts are 3D printed and behave like resin. Cut them off the casting blocks and supports with a saw or a sharp scalpel - never by snapping them off, as a thin pylon will crack under pressure. Cement for polystyrene does not work on them; use super glue (cyanoacrylate), or epoxy on larger joints, which gives you time to line the part up. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap - print resin residue clings to the surface and paint would not hold on it. Dust from sanding is harmful to health: sand wet and do not inhale it. Spray the pylons and finish them separately, and only then fit them to the stub wings.
This is NOT a kit. It is an upgrade accessory - the base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
