1:35 Arch windows No.13 from RT-Diorama is an architectural element for building dioramas in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of equipment but a window with an arched head, which is seated into the facade of a building, a set piece or the remains of a wall. The number in the name settles the version within the brand's range of windows, so several shapes of opening can be alternated on one building.
An arched opening is among the boldest signs of older European buildings - an industrial hall carries it, as do a station building, barracks, a cellar wing and a sacred structure. A facade with arched windows therefore comes across as older and more massive than an area with rectangular openings, and it gives away at once what type of house this is. In diorama practice a vault is useful in composition too: repeating arches create a rhythm that leads the eye along a wall to the main subject, while a damaged arched head gives a scene clear evidence of a hit.
Before you start gluing anything, lay out the spacing of the openings and the height of the sill - a disproportion in the spacing of windows is more visible on a finished facade than an inaccurately cut opening. Let the frame stand slightly back from the face of the masonry and draw the joint around it together with filler. Fill the inside of the window with a darker area, a suggestion of an interior or boarding, so that the view does not pass through the set piece. When painting, tell the material of the arched head apart from the surrounding wall and concentrate the marks of water running down below the sill, where they really arise after rain.
