A resin figure of a driver from the Black Dog sub-range of Austro-Hungarian figures. It complements the figures on foot of the same line and suits anywhere a vehicle is to have a crew rather than an empty seat. The casting is unpainted and ready to be cleaned up. The manufacturer also offers a version that brings the driver together with another figure in one box.
An empty cab is visible on a finished model at first glance and makes a scene feel unfinished. A driver inhabits it and at the same time gives the viewer a point of reference; from the figure he judges the dimensions of the vehicle at once. The pose of such figures follows the shape of the seat, so try it in the model itself before gluing. Open vehicles with no roof reveal the whole figure, while with a closed cab it is enough to give care to the head and the hands.
Try the figure dry in the cab and carefully sand away any excess resin on the legs or under the body until it sits naturally. Once the mold release agent is cleaned off, the base coat follows and then the uniform in muted tones. Pull the leather items out in a darker brown and the metal fittings with a faint graphite gloss. The hands on the wheel tend to be the first thing the viewer notices. Do not forget a small shadow under the body either, or the figure will look as though it were not touching the seat.
