1:35 Barn doors - large from RT-Diorama is a building element for dioramas in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of equipment but the large doors of a farm building, which are seated into the gable of a barn, into a cart shed or into a farm building. The designation large in the name settles the largest of the size versions of these doors.
Large doors change the character of a whole structure. An opening across a substantial part of the gable turns a barn into a building a vehicle fits into, and so offers the strongest subject a country set piece has to offer: equipment parked or hidden inside, with a crew around it. It is also an element that settles the scale of a scene by itself, because the viewer immediately compares the height of the opening with a figure beside it. Count on an opening like that calling for a structure to match, though - on a small shed it would come across out of proportion.
Lay out large doors together with the whole building, not afterward - their width will settle the proportions of the gable and the pitch of the roof. If you leave the leaves open, the inside can no longer be skimped: you need at least a suggested beamed ceiling, a darker area and some content, or the structure will look empty. Bring the planks out with a darker tone in the joints and by lightening the edges; on a large area it pays to vary the shades slightly from plank to plank, so that no uniform board arises. Leave the bottom edge and the area around the jambs the most scuffed and dusty.
