It contains ammunition boxes in the British pattern and a transport trailer, that is exactly the kind of equipment that makes the difference between a bare vehicle model and a scene that looks lived in. The set is supplied as an ordinary injection-molded kit: parts on sprues that are nipped off, cleaned up and glued together. It is not a model of a vehicle; it is an accessory built beside one, into a truck bed, onto a flatbed or loose into a diorama.
Ammunition boxes are a universal building block in modeling. Stacked in the bed of a truck they fill an empty space, scattered around a gun they create a story, leaned against a wall in a diorama they anchor the scale of the whole scene. The transport trailer in turn makes it possible to build a rig, a towing vehicle plus a trailer, which looks markedly more dynamic in a cabinet than a vehicle on its own. The British pattern suits the equipment of the Western Allies, but the boxes themselves will sit in most scenes from the Second World War period and later.
Nip the parts off with good nippers and clean the remains of the gate up with a scalpel, so that no white mark is left. Glue with liquid cement for plastic, which is drawn into the seam. Sand the parting lines on the edges of the boxes, as they show most on angular bodies. Apply a base before painting; boxes take a dry brush on the edges, a dark wash into the engraving and pigments on the lower edges that stood in mud rewardingly. Wooden boxes will also take the underpainting technique, where a lighter base shows through a thin coat of opaque paint.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the vehicle are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
