The Challenger 2 is a British main battle tank that forms the backbone of the armored forces of the British Army. It is known for exceptionally tough armor and, as one of the few modern tanks, it carries a rifled 120 mm gun instead of a smoothbore barrel. During Operation Telic in Iraq in 2003 the Challenger 2s proved themselves in the desert environment as well as in fighting in built-up areas; the vehicles received add-on armor and carried a characteristic desert finish and additional equipment.
Assemble the running gear and the tracks before closing the hull and fitting the side skirts. Seat the add-on armor panels carefully so that they line up. Bring the desert shade to life with a lighter dry brush on the edges and a darker wash in the grooves; you create the sandy cast with fine dust pigments over the whole vehicle, more strongly on the running gear and the underside. Worn metal on the edges of the hatches and on the step surfaces will support the impression of a machine in service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
