About product

A figure of a British tanker with ammunition, North Africa, No. 1, 1:35, PANZER ART

A resin figure in 1:35 made for a diorama or for a vehicle model. It is not a kit of equipment. The number in the name marks the first pose of the pair that the manufacturer also offers as a set.

Clothing and pose

The figure is modeled in a working pose while handling the ammunition of a two-pounder gun. The body is bent forward and loaded, which determines the whole build of the figure: a tensed back, clenched hands and a turned head. Tropical summer dress is much thinner than winter uniforms. A shirt and short or loose trousers form fine, dense and shallow folds that go with movement rather than with the weight of the fabric. For painting that means a different approach: less shadow in the recesses, more work with highlights on the stretched surfaces.

Tips for painting a resin figure

Start by washing it in lukewarm water with dish soap, to get the mold release agent off the surface. Cut the casting blocks off, sand the surface and fill the gap; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin primer. Build the light khaki surfaces from a base a touch darker than the result should be, because highlights are added more easily than shadows. On fine folds use a thinned filter rather than a heavy wash, as a heavy wash would break thin fabric up needlessly. Do the hands and the face separately, as on a working pose they are the most on show. A dusty setting is suggested with a light pigment on the boots and the hem of the trousers, but not over the whole figure. At the end a matte clear coat; the metal parts of the ammunition can be left slightly glossy.

Who the figure is for

  • builders of dioramas in 1:35 with a working scene beside a vehicle
  • modelers who want movement in a scene instead of a standing figure
  • anyone interested in painting thin summer fabric and light shades
  • more advanced builders used to resin

The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The paints, the glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Models of British vehicles in 1:35 and dioramas of a North African setting. The name does not give a particular kit, and the figure is not tied to one kit.

Resin calls for washing the mold release agent off, cutting off the casting blocks and cyanoacrylate glue. For a first-time modeler it is more demanding than a plastic figure, but the procedure is manageable.

Choose a base a tone darker than the target shade, only suggest the folds with a thinned filter and add highlights with a dry brush. A heavy wash would overpower fine folds.

A base, terrain and the paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
