A resin set of figures in 1:35 from the figure line of the maker PANZER ART. The subject is British tankers in the uniform of a unit marked RAC in the pattern for North Africa and Italy. The package contains several figures. The set serves as an add-on to vehicle models and to dioramas.
Casting into silicone molds allows a finer rendering of the folds, the pockets and the small equipment than injection-molded plastic. The figures tend to be split into a torso, a head and arms; on figures the parting lines are led in places that a collar, a belt or a fold of a sleeve will cover once glued. Resin is hard and brittle, it takes sanding but not bending.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry out. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and sand the surfaces down with your airways protected. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and fill the gaps with filler. Apply a primer. With a group of figures it pays to bring the palette together: shift the base tones of the uniforms slightly apart, but keep them in the same family of shades, or the scene will look fragmented. Lighten light field dress on the edges more markedly than heavy cloth and keep the wash thinner. Leave the leather accessories and the boots glossier, and the webbing straps completely matte. Finish the faces and the hands with oil paints; on figures for a warm climate a more tanned tone of the skin proves itself. Paint the figures separately and seat them into a scene only once they are finished. At the end bring the whole group together with one matte clear coat, so that it reads as a single whole.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
