The turret crew of a Sherman in the Pixie suit, 1:35 from PANZER ART will fill the hatches of a British turret with figures in the period oversuit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of British tankers in the Pixie oversuit intended for occupying the turret of a Sherman. PANZER ART places it among its accessories for British equipment of the last phase of the war; it is aimed at figures for the turret, and the model of the vehicle is not part of it. The set aims at a finished build and calls for no work on the structure of the turret.
In the turret of a Sherman there worked the commander, the gunner and the loader, each in his own place and with his own view out. British units used the vehicle from Normandy right to the close of the fighting in Germany, and some of the machines were rearmed with a more powerful gun. Figures in the hatches therefore give a scene not only a sense of size but also a particular combat situation that the model alone does not tell. An open hatch moreover reveals a piece of the inside of the turret, so it pays off to paint what is visible from within as well.
Lay the figures out on the turret dry first and look for a composition in which their gazes converge on one point; the scene will get a story that way. Only then comes the sanding and the gluing. Paint the oversuit in muted shades and avoid exaggerated contrast, otherwise it comes across more as a costume than as working clothing. Apply the dusting to all the figures alike.
