British Soldier With Pigeon Set from Black Dog is a group in 1:35 scale that joins both separately issued figures with a homing pigeon into one package.
Responsibility details are not available.
The word Set in the name marks a combined package: Black Dog has issued two separately numbered figures to this subject as well, and this set offers them together. For a modeler who wants to build a whole scene and not a single figure, it is the most direct route. The manufacturer is the Czech brand Black Dog.
Passing a message by pigeon post was not the work of one man. The birds were carried in wicker baskets, their nesting place was looked after by personnel of its own and the mobile loft moved along with the headquarters. The message traveled from the staff to the sender, from there back through the air and only then to the addressee. A group of two figures therefore makes it possible to capture a moment that a single figure cannot manage: mutual communication, the handing over of a basket or a look upward after a departing bird.
Before you reach for paint, stand both figures side by side and try several variants of how they are turned. It works best when the axes of their gazes cross somewhere above the scene, not when both figures look in the same direction. Detune the shades of the uniforms slightly, so that the pair does not come across from close up as two castings of the same thing. Choose a restrained base; a few blades of grass and a muddy rut are enough, as an overcrowded scene would drown the main motif.
