A set of figures of a British tank crew in 1:35, cast in modeling resin. It is not a vehicle kit nor an add-on for one, but figures that will give a finished model scale and action. In the same series the maker also offers individual figures of a commander and a loader and a variant meant for the turret hatches, so a crew can be put together according to what is needed.
Workmanship and use
The figures are modeled as whole figures, so they suit use away from a vehicle as well — beside the hull, at tools or in a resting group in a diorama. A resin casting holds sharp edges and the fine texture of the cloth, thanks to which the cut of the clothing, the belts, the footwear and the drawing of the faces are all readable. Whole-figure sets tend to have more complicated mold seam lines, so reckon with more careful cleaning up of the seams at the shoulders and the waist.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off at the mold seam line with a saw or a knife, level the faces with a file and fine sandpaper; sand the resin wet and with protection for your breathing. Glue with super glue and fill the seams at the mold seam lines with filler, or they will stand out once painted. After a thin primer, build the clothing from a darker ground toward lighter crests of the folds, and handle the faces with glazes of flesh tones. Bring the details out with a dark glaze into the recesses, lighten the edges and bring the surface together with a matte clear coat. Lay the figures out dry before gluing and tune the directions of their gazes — the group then works as one scene.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
