A pair of castings in modeling resin in 1:35 scale from the maker CMK. It is not a kit but a figure accessory for a finished model or for a diorama base. From older figure sets this one differs in the amount of small modern gear on the surface of the casting: pouches, straps, protectors and a helmet with a pronounced shell.
Both figures are modeled as standing infantry, that is for standing on flat terrain rather than going into a vehicle interior. In practice that means most of the work goes on setting the feet: a resin figure often has a remnant of the casting block under the sole and if it is cut off carelessly the figure topples. The recommended procedure is to stand the casting on glass, mark which foot does not touch and sand the difference away on paper laid on a flat board. On taller standing figures it works well to drill a hole into the soles and glue in a short wire pin, which anchors the figure into a base more firmly than glue alone.
The pouches, straps and belts are fine on the casting and it is exactly across them that the parting line runs; sanding therefore has to be done with fine paper and rather in short strokes along the strap than across it. Restore with the tip of a knife whatever you sand away. Before clear coating, wash the parts in warm water with detergent because of the mold release agent. For gluing and filling: cyanoacrylate glue, and the gaps with thicker cyanoacrylate or with putty. Always sand with respiratory protection, as resin dust is not to be inhaled.
Modern infantry is demanding to paint in that a multi-color camouflage pattern comes together on a small surface. It works well to lay the lightest tone down as a base and paint the darker patches in with a very fine brush rather than the other way round. Then paint the gear and webbing in a different coloring from the clothing, otherwise the small details on the figure get lost. The particular shades and the camouflage pattern are not stated here; go by a subject of your own.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
