Responsibility details are not available.
This 1:35 scale kit from AFV Club represents the British Churchill engineer tank fitted with the Type A carpet laying device. It is an injection-molded plastic model to be assembled and painted. The box contains plastic parts, clear periscopes, photo-etched elements, an aluminum barrel for the six-pounder gun with a hollowed bore and metal coil springs for the running gear. The carpet laying device is workable.
The Churchill with a carpet laying device was one of the special engineer vehicles known as Hobart's Funnies, developed for the Normandy landings. A reinforced carpet was wound onto a drum in front of the vehicle, and the tank laid it across soft ground or over obstacles to create a firm track for the advancing vehicles behind it. These vehicles proved themselves during the beach landings and helped open the routes from the coast inland.
Assemble the running gear with its metal springs and the hull first, then fit the carpet laying device with its movement in mind. Use liquid cement for plastic and apply a primer. We recommend spraying the British green with an airbrush; washes and pigments suit the weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
