Responsibility details are not available.
The commander's cupola of the heavy tank Tiger I in its late production form, specifically in the variant without drain slits around the circumference. It replaces the plastic part on a model in 1:35 scale.
During 1943 the Tiger I received a new cast commander's cupola with periscopes and with a ring for an anti-aircraft machine gun. It took over from the older cylindrical one with slit vision ports, which was more vulnerable and harder to observe from. The individual castings differed from piece to piece, however: some of them have small drain slits around the circumference and some do not, and it is precisely this second possibility that the set captures. Other features of later machines include road wheels with steel tires, simplified equipment on the hull and the omission of the deep-wading equipment.
The cupola sits on the roof in a precisely given position, so measure the opening in the plastic first and open it up carefully if need be. According to the set the hatch can be left open or closed, but an open one calls for suggesting the interior, or a black hole will appear. Paint the periscopes dark and run a drop of gloss varnish over them, so that they look like glass. If you are building a vehicle from the last year of the war, reckon too with spare track links often being carried on the roof as improvised protection.
