A pair of castings in modeling resin in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker CMK. It is not a kit but a figure accessory for a finished model or for a diorama base. It is interesting in that few sets offer a Czech soldier in modern gear in 1:35; for modelers who build domestic equipment it is one of the few ways of standing matching figures beside it.
Both figures are conceived as standing infantry for terrain. They come across best beside a vehicle, placed at the side of the hull, at an open door or at the rear, where the relationship between figure and equipment reads at first glance. Before you glue a casting on, hold it against the model and check the height: in 1:35 scale a difference of a few tenths of a millimeter is visible and a figure that is too tall against the vehicle spoils the whole impression. These figures are not modeled for an interior or a hatch.
The castings come on casting blocks. Cut them off with a fine-toothed saw, level the surface under the soles on abrasive paper laid on a flat board and stand the casting on glass to reveal a foot that does not touch. The parting line runs along the sides and across the gear; sand with fine paper and restore the sanded-away straps with a knife. Before painting, the parts have to be washed in warm water with detergent, as mold release agent clings to resin and paint will not hold on it. Gluing solely with cyanoacrylate glue, the gaps with thicker cyanoacrylate or with putty. Sand with respiratory protection.
Multi-color camouflage on a small surface is best done from the top down: a light overall base, then the darker patches with a fine brush, lastly the darkest accents. Set the details of the gear apart from the clothing by coloring. The particular shades and the pattern are not stated here, so verify them against the subject of your own that you want to represent.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
