A base for a diorama on the theme of a knocked-out Fuchs carrier. It is not a vehicle kit or a substitute for one, but a ready display to which it is for you to add company in the form of figures, hardware or small equipment. The most laborious part of a diorama, building the terrain from scratch, thereby falls away.
The Fuchs is a German amphibious wheeled carrier of six-wheel layout which appeared with the Bundeswehr in the 1970s and, through successive updates, serves to this day. In 1:35 scale it is a fairly large vehicle with a broken-up surface, so it holds attention even as part of a scene. The subject of knocked-out hardware also opens up a palette of color that a freshly built model never gets to: shades of corrosion and scorched metal and deposits of dust beside the remains of the original finish.
First clean the surface and let it dry thoroughly, then apply a thin continuous base so that the paint holds even on the smoother areas. Work from the darkest tone toward the light, pick out the edges with a dry brush and let a dark shade flow into the recesses. Add the dust and the dried mud at the very end, ideally in several weak layers, so that the surface does not look uniform.
Paints, pigments and figures are not supplied with the base; reckon with them separately.
