This product is not a vehicle kit but a detailing material. It is a thin metal sheet into which the pattern of non-slip tread plate of the German late type is engraved over the whole surface, converted into 1:35 scale. A modeler cuts parts of any shape out of the sheet and replaces smooth or coarsely cast plastic surfaces with them.
Tread plate appears on real equipment everywhere people walk and climb: on fenders, steps, platforms, the floors of cargo compartments, on ramps and in workshop fittings. Plastic kits often deal with these surfaces in a simplified way or not at all. A metal sheet with a regularly engraved pattern gives a surface the right depth and sheen and at the same time stays very thin, so it does not increase the thickness of the part. It can also be used on its own in a diorama as a metal cover, a crossing or a workshop floor.
Cut the sheet with a sharp modeling knife along a metal ruler or with photo-etch shears, then level the edges with a fine file. Sand the base flat before gluing, otherwise the sheet will not sit down. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with a two-part epoxy resin, as cement for plastic does not hold on metal. The metal has to be degreased and sprayed with a base coat before painting, otherwise the shade peels off. The engraved pattern comes out after a darkening wash and a light dry brush in a lighter tone, and pigments and chipped places complete the impression.
This is a detailing accessory, not a model in its own right. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
