An industrial architectural element from the Plusmodel diorama line. It stands for the entrance to a works – a piece of brickwork with a large gate, beside which a scene can be built even in a small area. Neither a model of a vehicle nor figures belong to the element; the 1:35 scale is given in the name.
A factory entrance is ideal for vignette views: a piece of floor, the gate and one vehicle are enough and the scene is finished and readable at first glance. An industrial setting moreover takes pronounced patina – rust, oil stains, flaking paint and traces of knocks come across naturally here, while on a residential house they would be a distraction. An entrance also explains naturally why the vehicle in the scene is standing in just that place.
Stand the gate so that it is at least partly open; a completely closed area optically closes a scene. Let the metal rust from the lower edge, where water runs down, and grade the rust into several shades. Wear the brickwork around the entrance away in the places where equipment drives through – it is precisely such small things that make an industrial view believable. Complete the floor with stains and crushed material. Use lettering and numbers on the brickwork sparingly, otherwise they will overpower the building itself, and around the entrance suggest worn tracks in the dust.
