A tomcat named Bars, a small animal miniature from the workshop of Spalah in 1:35 size. It will bring a military or civil diorama to life and add atmosphere to a scene with little effort.
Responsibility details are not available.
A miniature of a cat printed in photopolymer resin. The Ukrainian brand Spalah has issued the cats as a small series of their own, in which every animal bears its own name; Bars is one of them and the name comes from the Slavic word for the snow leopard.
Animals are a far stronger narrator in a diorama than their size would suggest. A cat resting on a sandbag or on the hood of a parked vehicle says at once that the scene is set in an inhabited place and that life there goes on. In photographs from the front and from the rear areas alike, cats are a surprisingly frequent guest, because they stay where the people are and where food is cooked. An animal also works well as a counterweight to a serious scene, because it offers the viewer a place for the eye to rest.
The fur is built up from a darker base to lighter hairs applied with an almost dry brush. The eyes need only be suggested with two dots; on an object this small, cleanness of execution matters more than the amount of detail. A matte clear coat at the end will keep the animal from coming across as a porcelain ornament.
The figure comes unpainted and with no base; ordinary acrylic shades are enough to paint it.
