The Food II set is not a model of equipment but a collection of small equipment for diorama scenes. It brings food and supplies in 1:35 scale, that is the things that appear on a table, in a crate by a kitchen, on the bed of a supply truck or in the hands of a figure.
Anyone can build a vehicle, but a scene starts to come across as alive only at the moment when there is food in it. A sack leaning against a wall, cans lined up on a crate, bread on the table by a field kitchen – these small things turn a military view into a picture of people who live somewhere. At the same time they fill the empty places on a base splendidly without overpowering the main motif.
Small objects need more contrast than it would seem, otherwise they merge when seen from a distance. Use richer shades and pronounced shading; for paper wrappings choose a slightly yellowish tone and bring the edges out with a lighter touch. Damage or half-open a few pieces on purpose. And above all: do not line everything up in a row, because supplies in the field never look orderly. Feel free to sink some of the objects partly into a canvas or into straw, so that the impression comes about that they really have been handled.
Paints and glue are not supplied with this set.
