Under the designation French Commando Kieffer On The March No.3 Dynamo-Models offers a marching French soldier at a ratio of 1:35. The third piece of the numbered series.
Responsibility details are not available.
An infantry figure captured on the move, a ratio of 1:35, comes from the Dynamo-Models range and carries the sequence number three in its name. The soldier is shown with pouches and belt equipment and with his head turned slightly to one side, which gives him an air of attention to his surroundings rather than a mechanical stride.
A single figure needs context around it. A stretch of hedge, a stone pavement, a pile of crates or simply a base of sand and dry grass all suggest themselves. When you join it with the other numbers of the same series, a group arises in which the figures have neither the same stride nor the same turn, and it is exactly that which gives a column its naturalness. Keep the spacing irregular; the eye gives a regular formation away as artificial at once.
On an infantry figure it pays to start with the skin and only then deal with the clothing, because the face is the most watched place on the whole figure. The blouse and the trousers are rewarding for color transitions: light areas on the shoulders and thighs, darker tones into the folds. Set the leather straps apart with a warm brown shade and a faint sheen, so they do not get lost in the area of the clothing. The buckles and the metal loop need only be suggested with the tip of a brush, because in the finished scene they read as a glint rather than as a shape.
