1:35 French Toast

French Toast in 1:35 scale from Bravo 6

A resin figure set in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Bravo 6. It holds two figures of American soldiers from the period of the Second World War in a genre, quiet composition; the name of the set refers to the scene and not to a particular unit. It is not a kit of equipment but an accessory for dioramas and display cases.

The workmanship of the castings

Hard modeling resin allows finer relief than injection-molded plastic, so the folds of the field jackets, the straps, the belts and the small kit all stand out on the figures. The pair of figures is designed so that they form one scene together - the figures complement each other in pose as well as in turn and together give the scene action. They work separately as well, however, for example by a vehicle or in the corner of an urban setting.

Tips for working and painting

First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent because of the remains of the release agent from the mold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter and sand the surfaces wet and with respiratory protection. Cyanoacrylate super glue will take care of the joints; with larger seams a thicker variant with a filler helps. Start the painting with a thin primer. Build the olive and khaki fabrics up from a darker base toward lighter edges, so that the figure does not look flat, and build the skin up by layering. A wash into the folds will emphasize the modeling, a closing matte varnish will unify the surface, and the shades of leather and metal can be brought to life slightly with a satin.
