A turned replacement barrel for the German 75 mm KwK 40 L/43 gun with a single-baffle muzzle brake, in 1:35, for the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. F2 and early Ausf. G.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 75 mm KwK 40 gun in the pattern with a barrel length of 43 calibers went into the German Pz.Kpfw. IV tank from the Ausf. F2 version and into early examples of the Ausf. G version. It was a fundamental change: a short gun meant mainly for firing at soft targets gave way to a long barrel able to destroy the enemy tanks of the day. You recognize the early examples by the muzzle brake with a single baffle, which a double-baffle pattern later replaced. The L/43 designation is the barrel length in calibers, not the caliber.
This is a replacement barrel for a model in 1:35 that takes the place of the part from the kit. The barrel is made by turning. According to the name a muzzle brake in the single-baffle pattern is part of it as well, so the item matches the early machines exactly. The exact contents of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the original barrel off the kit, level the face of the cut and clean the hole out as needed, so that the new part sits on the axis. Glue a turned part with cyanoacrylate glue, as cement for plastic models does not hold on metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface and apply a primer coat; without it paint holds badly on smooth metal and rubs off during handling.
The barrel alone is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
