An injection-molded plastic kit of the German small Hf.14 field kitchen (kleine Feldküche) in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker IBG Models. It is not a vehicle or a tank but a typical piece of rear-area equipment: a mobile kitchen that German soldiers nicknamed the goulash cannon. The package holds plastic parts and decals; the model is an ideal addition to dioramas and scenes from behind the front.
A field kitchen was the basic means of cooking a large amount of hot food for soldiers with a minimum of resources. The small Hf.14 variant carried cauldrons for cooking dishes and for heating drinks and was able to supply a smaller unit. On the menu, potato soup, pea soup and all kinds of stews commonly appeared. The kitchen was towed behind a horse team or a vehicle.
Assemble the model in subassemblies and pay attention to the cauldrons, the chimney and the undercarriage. Use thin cement for plastic, and glue the fine parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer and paint with an airbrush; gray or dark yellow is typical. Bring the metal parts and the cauldrons to life with a dark wash, suggest soot around the firebox and the chimney with pigments, and fine rust will give the kitchen a faithful, used look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
