The crews of German armored vehicles dressed differently in winter than in the rest of the year. Over their working clothes they wore padded and fur-lined coats and jackets, headgear with ear flaps and gloves, because there was no heating inside the machine or next to it. A figure of such a soldier gives a model both scale and a story: only beside a human figure can you tell how big the vehicle is and how the crew moved around in it.
