The StuG III assault guns came about as infantry support: instead of a rotating turret they have the weapon mounted directly in the hull, so they are low, easy to conceal and could be built faster than a tank. The Ausf F/2 version brought a long 75 mm barrel, with which the machine stood up even to armored targets, and the Ausf G became the most widespread form of the whole family. The StuH 42 Ausf G stands on the same chassis but carries a 105 mm howitzer, a weapon for use against field fortifications and resistant targets.
The markings aim at the machines deployed in Norway and Finland, that is at the national insignia, the numbers and the recognition features of the northern theater. The printing is in 1:35 scale, that is for the most common size of kits of ground hardware.
Check which version you are building: on these machines the numbers were placed on the sides of the superstructure, and that differs between versions in shape as well as in fittings. Paint the model and give it a coat of gloss varnish, and separate the elements with a sharp blade close to the print. Check the application procedure in the instructions enclosed with the sheet and use a decal softener only where the instructions allow it. If you add a winter finish to the model, apply the markings first and then wipe the finish away around them, so that they stay partly visible.
