A decal set in 1:35 scale with markings for three vehicles of the Grille Ausf. H type. It is not a kit and not an accessory part, but a decal sheet intended for finishing a model that has already been built. Markings are the last thing that gives a model its identity: the same machine with three different sets of numbers and symbols looks different every time.
The Grille was a German self-propelled gun of the Second World War that combined a heavy infantry howitzer with a chassis derived from the 38(t) light tank. The Ausf. H rendering differs from the later variant in the position of the fighting compartment and in the layout of the hull, so a set of markings is tied to a specific version of the model.
Decals need a smooth, glossy base, otherwise a matte halo is left under them. The sequence is always the same: matte color, gloss varnish where the decal goes, the decal, a softener and finally a unifying matte varnish over the whole model. Cut the decal as close to the motif as possible, so that a minimum of clear carrier film is left. On riveted and broken surfaces it helps to apply the softener in two thin coats and let the decal settle into the relief, without pressing on it while it is soft. Once dry, the markings can be weathered together with the surrounding armor, so that they do not look like a new sticker on an old machine.
The set contains decals. The model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
