A resin set of wheels in 1:35 scale for the American HEMTT heavy truck. The set is not a model of the vehicle, it is an exchange of wheels on a kit already built. On a vehicle that stands on eight wheels, the exchange shows in the overall impression of the model far more than on an ordinary four-wheeled chassis.
The HEMTT is an American heavy truck with all-wheel drive in an 8x8 layout, used in a whole range of forms, from a cargo truck and a tanker through a tractor to a carrier of mission modules. Its characteristic features are exactly those massive off-road wheels of the same diameter on all axles, which carry a great weight and tend to be heavily dusted in service. Given their number, a simplified or inaccurate tread is seen eight times over on a model, which is the main reason modelers reach for replacement wheels.
Wash the castings in warm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level all the mating surfaces alike, so that the vehicle does not stand askew. Before gluing with super glue, stand the model on a flat board and check that all eight wheels touch the base. You will get the painting done faster if you put the wheels on temporary holders and spray them all at once: first a primer, then a very dark gray with a brown cast instead of pure black, the edges of the tread with a dry brush and finally dust pigment in the grooves. On military trucks the discs tend to be in the shade of the body, so set them apart with a masking circle or spray them before the tires go on.
This is a resin accessory, not a complete kit. The wheels are supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
