The motif is the basement of a house, that is the sunken part of a building, into which a figure, equipment or small items can be placed. The base is made by the Czech brand Black Dog, which has long specialized in resin accessories and diorama grounds.
A figure or a vehicle standing on its own looks unfinished in a display case. A base gives the scene a setting and a scale: it fixes where the figure stands, how tall it is against the building around it and what story the scene tells. The basement motif suits urban combat scenes, scenes of damaged buildings and also a closed backdrop for a single figure, where you want to stress an interior instead of open country.
