Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese tank destroyer Type 3 Ho-Ni III. Behind the molds stands FineMolds, a Japanese manufacturer that has long specialized in the hardware of the Imperial Army and is known for the fine engraving of its surfaces. The model is intended to be glued together and painted.
It came about by rebuilding the chassis of the medium tank Type 97 Chi-Ha. Whereas the older Ho-Ni I carried its gun in a superstructure open at the top and at the rear, in the Ho-Ni III the crew already got a fully enclosed armored casemate with a gun of 75 millimeters. It protected them from splinters and from small-arms fire. The machine was being born only at the close of the war and the pieces built stayed for the most part on the home islands, where the army held them in reserve against the expected landing.
Build and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you seat the superstructure, because afterwards you will no longer get at them. The large flat walls of the casemate are rewarding for shading and for a dry brush on the edges. Japanese hardware tends to be shown in fields of ocher and brown-green whose transitions it pays to blur.
It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; paints and glue are not in the package.
