An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet heavy tank in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Zvezda. It is a modern mold capturing the late wartime version with a cast hull and the powerful 122mm gun. The package offers sharply cast surface details and a decal sheet with marking options; take the exact number of parts and the schemes from the instructions in the box.
The IS-2 (Iosif Stalin 2) was a Soviet heavy tank developed in 1943 as an answer to heavily armored German hardware. Its 122mm D-25T gun could destroy armored targets and break up fortifications, which made the tank a feared means of breaking through defenses. It was deployed in the closing phases of the Second World War during the advance through Eastern Europe and in attacks on large cities. After the war it served on in a number of armies and is among the best-known Soviet heavy tanks of all.
Build in subassemblies and finish the running gear before varnishing. Pay attention to the seating of the long barrel and the gun mantlet, so that they sit straight and symmetrically. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. The cast texture of the hull and the turret will come out well after emphasis with washes into the recesses. Use pigments on the running gear and the underside for mud and dust effects; suggest wear on the edges with restrained chipping.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
