Civilian figures in everyday clothing for an HO layout, six pieces in all. Four men, one standing woman and one woman seated.
Responsibility details are not available.
Versatility is an underrated quality in model figures. A figure in a uniform or in working clothes belongs in one particular place and cannot be put anywhere else. This set goes the opposite way: six people in everyday civilian dress suit the front of a store, a park, a village green, a stop and the buildings on the edge of a town. It is made up of four men, one woman standing and one woman caught seated.
The set therefore serves well as a companion to thematically pronounced packages. Anyone who already has workers, firefighters or railroad staff on a layout needs a counterweight of ordinary people, otherwise the scene looks like a parade of trades. A few civilians scattered among them even the balance out and the scene starts to read as a place where people live.
The seated woman again has to be found a base, because seating is not included. A park bench, a step in front of an entrance or a low wall by a sidewalk suggest themselves. The remaining five stand and are set out freely, and the best result comes from scattering them over the scene rather than clustering them into one group: figures set apart read as ordinary traffic, gathered ones as an event.
At a size this small, small details are dealt with by color rather than by shape. With civilian clothing that shows most of all, because a varied mix of colors is the only thing that tells one figure from another. The figures are supplied painted and ready to use, so all that is needed is to choose a spot, sink the feet slightly into the base and glue them.
