1:35 Israeli soldiers patrol big set is the most extensive step of this Black Dog figure group in 1:35 scale; the words big set in the name place it above the ordinary set.
Responsibility details are not available.
The words big set in the name place the item above the ordinary set of the same group. For a modeler that means a different way of working: a more extensive figure item is not built from figure to figure but from a plan of the scene. The 1:35 scale meanwhile gives enough room for the differences between the individual figures to read clearly even from across a display case.
Start with a plan on paper. Divide the area into foreground, middle and background and put a different activity into each band, or the scene will merge into a single huddle. Leave sight lines between the figures; empty space matters as much in a diorama as occupied space. A suitable setting is a dusty road at the edge of built-up ground, the open space at a barrier or a yard with a low perimeter wall.
With a larger number of figures it pays to paint in stages: all the undercoats first, then all the uniforms, and only at the end the details. The work goes faster and the shades stay consistent. Finally go over the scene with one thinned tone from the top down and add dust from the base upward; a matte varnish at the end evens out the differences in surface and holds the whole together.
