The JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) from the Oshkosh Defense company is gradually replacing the older Humvee vehicles. It combines high cross-country mobility with markedly better crew protection and modular armor. The M1278A1 Heavy Gun Carrier version serves as a carrier of heavy weapons for fire support and reconnaissance; the weapon station is fitted with a heavy machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher.
Assemble and paint the chassis and the interior before the hull is closed. Glue the parts with a liquid cement for plastic, the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate, and glue the clear parts of the optics carefully so that they do not fog. Paint with an airbrush over a primer; modern vehicles carry single-color as well as camouflage schemes. Suggest dust and operational wear with pigments and washes.
