1:35 Jungle Plant No.2

Jungle plant No.2 in 1:35 scale

The accessory 1:35 Jungle Plant No.2 is one of the numbered parts of the RT-Diorama range of tropical vegetation. It is not a kit model of a vehicle or a figure but an element with which the setting around the main subject is built. The range is numbered precisely so that a modeler can put the growth together from several different plants instead of repeating one shape.

Vegetation and the composition of a scene

Greenery in a diorama does not serve merely to fill space. It guides the viewer's eye: whatever you frame the main model with is where the eye will stop first. A well-built scene therefore has a clear view of the subject and denser growth at the sides and behind. Empty space matters as much as filled space - when a whole scene is overgrown, there is nothing to look at.

Tips for placing it in the scene

• First just set the plants on the scene and turn the diorama all the way round; only then fix them for good.
• Make the groups odd in number; pairs look artificial.
• Leave different gaps between the plants; a regular grid gives away artificial growth.
• Let the greenery grow out over the edge of the board too; growth in nature never ends in a straight edge.
• Choose the way of fixing it according to the groundwork of the scene and the make of the parts.
