1:35 Junkers Ju-87G-1/2 'Stuka'

Photo-etched set for the Ju 87 G in 1:32 scale

A set of photo-etched parts from Eduard for a model of the Junkers Ju 87 in the anti-tank G-1 and G-2 versions. It is not a kit: what you get are thin metal parts with which details that plastic cannot capture at this thickness are replaced or added on a model under construction. The extent of the set and the kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

The real subject

The letter G in the designation belongs to the anti-tank version of the Ju 87. Under the wings it carried a pair of 37 mm cannons in pods, each with a small supply of rounds, so only a few shots were left for the target and accuracy decided the outcome. The version was based on the late forms of the D series, with which it shared the airframe. The steep diving attack for which the Ju 87 was known gave way on it to firing at armored vehicles from low altitude. The G-1 and G-2 forms differed from each other in the airframe they started from and are close to each other in appearance.

Work tips

• cut the parts off with a sharp blade on a hard support, do not break them out of the fret
• make the folds along the scored line, in a bending tool or between two blades
• it is glued with super glue, dosed on the tip of a pin
• degrease the parts before painting and back them with a primer coat
• try every part dry, as some plastic usually has to be taken away
