Injection-molded plastic kit of the shipborne Kamov Ka-29 Helix-B helicopter in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. Besides the plastic parts the box also contains metal parts and basic photo-etched parts, and it offers four Russian Navy marking options. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Ka-29 is a naval assault and combat helicopter from the Kamov design bureau, derived from the shipborne Ka-27. Its unmistakable hallmark is the characteristic Kamov coaxial rotor system, two contra-rotating rotors one above the other and no tail rotor. The machine was designed to carry an assault party and to give it fire support from the deck of a ship; it can carry gun pods, unguided rockets and anti-tank guided missiles.
The coaxial layout means two sets of rotor blades, and all of them have to be straight and symmetrical; the rotor heads contain a great many small parts, so set aside time for them. The glazed cabin has several clear parts that are best masked and protected from glue. Glue the metal and photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate (super glue) and the plastic with liquid cement for plastic; lay down a primer and spray with an airbrush. A gray camouflage scheme suits a naval machine; exhaust and oil streaks are brought out with a wash and with pigments, and the decals go on a gloss coat. On the shelf the model looks best with the rotors turned.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
