The set belongs to the group of modeling belts and straps. It will serve everywhere a finished model is to look soft and pliable: on seats, cargo tie-downs, bags, holsters or the attachment of equipment. In the name it carries the designation 30 mm, by which it is distinguished from the other items of the same line, so you choose exactly the variant you need on the bench.
Printed or molded details always stay flat, whereas a belt run around an edge can be twisted, left to sag and allowed to hang freely. It is exactly that property that makes the difference between a static model and a scene that looks alive. They work well on open interiors you can see into, and on cargo secured on a bed. Experienced builders also use them where it is to be clear that someone has recently been handling the object.
Work with a sharp scalpel and cut on a mat against a fresh edge so that the edge is not left ragged. Try the shape out dry first and only then fix it in the position you want to keep. Add buckles and fittings as needed from your own stock, because it is they that give the whole thing credibility in scale.
