This decal set in 1:35 scale is devoted to the British M3 Lee tanks in Burma in 1944 and 1945. The Burma theater is one of the subjects that stay in the shadow of Europe and North Africa, even though it was there that hardware long since withdrawn from the front line elsewhere saw out its service.
The M3 Lee was an American medium tank with an unusual arrangement of armament: the main 75 mm gun sat in the right-hand side of the hull with limited traverse, while the rotating turret held a lighter 37 mm gun. The tall silhouette and the side mounting of the main weapon proved a disadvantage in European conditions, but in Burma something else decided matters. The terrain, the load capacity of the bridges and the supply routes favored a proven machine whose armament worked well against field fortifications, so the Lee stayed in British and Allied service right up to the last operations of the campaign.
The hull of the Lee is studded with rivets and its sides run into a rounded casting, so place the markings on the areas between the rows of rivets and use a decal softener to seat them. A matte green base coat needs a gloss interlayer under a decal, otherwise silvering threatens. Burma hardware tended to be dusty and muddy at the same time, depending on the season, so once you have flattened it down, work with pigments in two tones and let the markings show through only partly. For the handling itself, follow the instructions from the maker of the set.
The package holds decals. The model, the paints and the varnishes are not included, unless stated otherwise.
