This is not a model of a tank but an accessory set from the Upgrade Solution Series. It is intended for raising the detail of a plastic model of the Leopard 2A6 main battle tank in 1:35 scale and it replaces or completes elements that injected plastic cannot render finely enough. A modern main battle tank is demanding for a modeler precisely because of what makes it look simple: the large smooth surfaces of modular armor contrast sharply with a mass of small handles, eyes, grilles, covers and handling features. It is these details that decide whether a model comes across as a scaled-down machine or as a toy. Accessory sets of this type target thin sheet metal, the screens of the cooling openings and the fittings on both the turret and the hull. The set is cut for a particular version of the vehicle, so before buying check that your base model matches the same version.
First go through which original plastic parts are to be removed and only then start cutting, because on large smooth surfaces every trace of a scalpel gives itself away. Sand the cuts with fine paper and polish the surface so that the new part sits on it with no gap. Bend thin metal parts on a bending tool and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue in a minimal amount, if need be with the help of an accelerator. Assemble the set before painting, then even the whole model out with primer, because metal and plastic take paint differently. Leave small handling features that would suffer during the work until the very end of the build.
