The Linden Dry 1:35 set from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene contains fine laser-cut paper leaves in the heart shape of a linden leaf, in a dry, faded autumn color. It is not a tree and not finished vegetation but a loose leaf material with which you foliate your own tree armature or a bush, or which you scatter over the surface of a scene. The recommended scale is 1:35.
The leaves are glued onto a wire or natural tree armature, onto a bush of seafoam, or sprinkled loose as litter along a path, at the foot of a wall and into the corners of a diorama. The manufacturer also recommends them as an enlivening addition to combat vehicles and to models of buildings — a few leaves caught on a fender, on a superstructure or in a roof gutter give a scene instant credibility. The dry color suits late autumn, a muddy road and a winter scene without snow.
Work on a base and with tweezers, as the leaves are very light and fly away. Spraying the armature with thin glue or matte varnish, sprinkling the leaves into it and shaking the excess back into the bag proves itself. For permanent anchoring, thinned PVA glue with a drop of dish soap is used, applied from above with a pipette. Paper leaves can be toned gently with an airbrush or with pigments once dry, so that the area does not look like a single color; a light overspray fixes loose pieces at the same time.
This is a modeling material, not a kit. The glue, the tree armature and the paints are not included in the package.
