The kit M1A2 SEP v2 Abrams in 1:35 scale comes from the manufacturer Rye Field Model, which has made its name with richly detailed kits of modern armored equipment. This injection-molded plastic kit captures one of the newer versions of the American main battle tank and is a rewarding basis both for a clean build from the box and for a diorama.
The M1 Abrams has formed the backbone of American armored forces since the 1980s. The M1A2 SEP v2 version (System Enhancement Package v2) represents a modernization with improved electronics, color displays for the crew, upgraded communications and reworked cooling and power supply for the onboard systems. The main armament remains a 120 mm smoothbore gun, and power comes from a gas turbine. This version served with American units at home and at overseas bases.
Finish and paint the running gear and the tracks before you assemble the hull tub; it is hard to get at them later. Choose the base coat according to the subject: desert sand, or green-brown NATO camouflage. Washes in the recesses and the panel lines will accentuate the busy turret, and dust pigments on the running gear and the sides will then set the model convincingly into the terrain.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
