An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Border Model. Its fundamental strength is the full interior — the complete fighting compartment, the turret and the engine compartment — together with workable tracks and suspension. The package holds photo-etched parts and four color scheme options; the hatches and some of the armor panels can be left open to show the interior off.
The Merkava is an Israeli main battle tank with an unusual layout — the engine sits at the front, which gives the crew at the rear additional protection and allows them to enter through the rear door. The Mk.2D version brings modernized add-on modular armor. The Merkava is built with the emphasis on crew survival and is the backbone of the Israeli armored forces.
On a model with a full interior work from the inside out: first assemble and paint the inside of the fighting and engine compartments, and only then close the hull up, because a finished interior is hard to reach. Assemble the workable tracks from individual links and leave them movable. Lay down a primer and paint with an airbrush; a uniform sand-gray shade (Sinai) is typical for the Merkava. Bring out the broken surface of the non-slip armor with a dry brush, the recesses with a dark wash and the running gear with mud and dust pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
