An MG 34 machine gun with a loose ammunition belt, 1:35 scale: a rendering carrying the designation Long in the name.
Responsibility details are not available.
Here the weapon is captured with the belt hanging loose from the feed opening and ending somewhere by the feet of the gunner. Such a conception looks lively and suits scenes where you want to capture a moment of action. The word Long in the name determines which of the variants offered this is. You are buying a complete weapon, not a separate replacement element.
The cartridges were fed into the weapon in a metal link belt that could be joined into longer lengths. The empty links fell out and in scenes often scattered around the position. For a diorama this is a rewarding element: a few scattered links on the ground say more about the action than a whole extra figure. The belt itself was filled by hand or with a simple filling machine and its preparation took the crew a great deal of time.
The hanging belt is the most fragile place of the whole component, so hold it by the body of the weapon during cleaning and never by the belt itself. The shape can be carefully straightened, but bending it by force does not pay. In color set the belt apart with a warm touch of the cartridge cases against the dark links and at the end unify everything with a light veil of dust. Before gluing, try whether the belt fouls the surface of the base.
