An add-on set of photo-etched parts meant for detailing kits of modern German military vehicles in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle and not a finished product: it is an accessory used together with a basic kit. The universal use designation in the name means that the set is not tied to a single type of vehicle: clamps and clasps are small repeating features you will find on hulls, fenders and superstructures across models.
Tool clamps, strap clasps and retainers are among the parts injection-molded plastic will never capture. A mold has to cast them at a thickness the plastic can bear when it is ejected, so all that is left of them are coarse blocks with no openings and no visible gap between the clamp and the tool. Photo-etched sheet is a few tenths of a millimeter thick, so it holds the right proportion even where the material should be practically invisibly thin for the scale. It is precisely this difference that shows on a finished model more than most other modifications.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, and never break them out. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two razor blade edges laid against the marked groove, because brass is bent by pressure, not by twisting. Before gluing, degrease the sheet with alcohol and lay on a thin primer, otherwise paint does not hold on the smooth metal. Dispense cyanoacrylate with a pin, so that the drop does not spread over the surrounding plastic. Cut the original plastic clamps off the kit and sand the surface flat, and only then glue the photo-etched parts on.
