Photo-etched metal replaces the parts that cannot be made thin or fine enough in injection-molded plastic, typically pierced plates, grilles, brackets, steps, hinges and small stowage. The set is not a kit in its own right and the base model is supplied separately.
The subject is an improvised fighting vehicle, that is a production civilian pickup truck with all-wheel drive, on whose bed a weapon mount with rocket launchers is fixed. Vehicles converted in this way appear in conflicts in the Middle East and in North Africa, because they combine the great mobility and the low cost of the base automobile with firepower. The conversions are made in workshop conditions, so they differ from one vehicle to the next in the anchoring of the mount, in the protective plates and in the arrangement of the equipment on the bed. It is exactly this lack of uniformity that makes such vehicles a rewarding subject for modelers and dioramas.
Separate the parts with photo-etch scissors or a scalpel on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tag down with a fine file. Make the folds in a bender, so that the edges are sharp. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; for parts that have to be aligned, reach for the gel version. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer. On improvised vehicles a stronger finish is in order, that is dust, dried mud and chipped paint, because this is civilian equipment in use.
