An add-on armament set in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Special Hobby. It is neither a vehicle kit nor a figure but a separate item meant to fill out a scene: in the hands of an infantryman, on the load of a vehicle or as equipment set aside in a firing position.
The NLAW is a modern portable short-range anti-tank weapon, developed in European cooperation and taken into service by a number of armies. What is essential about it is its single-use form: the gunner is given a sealed launch tube that is discarded after the shot. Aiming is done by tracking the target briefly before firing, and once the shot is away the missile flies on with no further input from the gunner. The weapon can engage a target directly as well as by an overfly from above. The silhouette of the smooth cylindrical tube with its grip and a simple gunsight is typical and easy to recognize on a diorama.
Wash the parts beforehand in warm soapy water, so that the paint holds. Cut the casting block off with a sharp scalpel over a tray; a small cylindrical part rolls away easily and will not be found. Sand wet and with protection for your breathing. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lead the painting through a primer onto a matte base, because modern weapons have a minimum of sheen. Leave the lettering and the warning bands on the tube only suggested, because in 1:35 scale sharp lines would look unnatural. Keep the weathering restrained: chipping on the edges and fine dust in the transitions are enough.
The set is an accessory, not a stand-alone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
