Three wooden transport pallets in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian maker Spalah. Printing from resin captures the edges of the boards, the gaps between them and the feet the pallet stands on. Making a pallet by hand from strips is time-consuming and seldom comes out exactly right; a finished casting removes that problem.
The pallet is a universal prop. It finds a use in a depot, by a loading ramp, in a warehouse, in the yard of a repair workshop and as an improvised floor or a stand under a crate. Three pieces allow you to build a stack, prop one against a wall and lay one aside. It is precisely such an irregular arrangement that comes across as real activity, whereas a lined-up row looks staged.
After cutting off the supports, clean up the lower edges. Lay a light gray or sand-colored base under the area and only onto that put translucent coats of brown and ocher tones, because wood never has a uniform color. The texture comes out when you draw an oil wash over the surface in the direction of the grain and, once it has dried, go lightly over it with a brush almost free of paint. Mud dusts the underside.
The package holds neither glue nor paints; get those according to your own habit.
