1:35 Floor - tiles, black and white is a diorama accessory for rendering a tiled floor in 1:35 scale. The black and white checkerboard tiles suit interior scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory for a diorama in 1:35 scale serves to create a tiled floor with a regular black and white pattern. It is not a kit or a finished scene but a surface element on which the interior is then built: a garage, a workshop, a hall, an entrance corridor or a wrecked building. The material and the dimensions of the sheet or part are not stated here, so check them before buying.
In interior dioramas the floor is usually the largest continuous area and it decides whether a scene reads convincingly. The regular grid of tiles also works as a natural guide to perspective and tells the viewer the scale at once: from the size of the tiles they can see how large a figure or a vehicle is. A black and white checkerboard is among the typical floors of public buildings, workshops and halls of the first half of the twentieth century, so it suits European scenes of that period.
The base has to be perfectly flat, otherwise any unevenness will show at once on the regular grid. Lay the accessory down dry, trim it to the shape of the scene and only then glue it. Hide the seams between individual pieces under a wall, a piece of equipment or rubble. Never leave new tiling clean: a gray or brown wash into the joints, fine dust around the edges, oil stains under vehicles and a worn sheen in the middle of walkways will make the difference between a toy and a diorama within a few minutes. Weather the white areas carefully and in layers, because every intervention shows more strongly on them than on the black ones.
The accessory is supplied without further scenic material. Paints, glue, figures and vehicles are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
