About product

Board fence with wider boards, angled cut 1:35 (Model Scene)

A scenery accessory for dioramas in 1:35 scale. The fence is made up of wider boards laid side by side and its top edge is not horizontal but cut at an angle — this creates a rising or falling line that suits sloping terrain and places where the fence meets a taller building. It is supplied as a laser-cut wooden part for assembly.

The real subject

An angled top edge is a practical solution, not an ornament. When a fence climbs a hill or joins the gable of a building, the transition is solved precisely by chamfering the top edge, so that the fencing follows the terrain and no gap is left anywhere. For a diorama this is a rewarding feature: the angled line breaks the monotony of a straight edge and reveals that the ground of the scene is not a board but a slope.

Building and painting tips

Break the parts carefully out of the carrier sheet and true the cut edges with fine abrasive paper. Glue the wood with thin PVA wood glue or with cyanoacrylate; before building, let the assembly dry out completely on a flat surface so that the fence does not warp. Before gluing, mark the run of the terrain on the base and lay the fence against it dry — an angled cut only makes sense when it follows the real slope of the scene. Wide boards take a more pronounced wood grain; emphasize it with the point of a scalpel, then apply thinned brown and gray glazes. A dark wash into the joints and pigment in the shade of the soil at ground level tie the fence to the terrain.

Who the accessory is for

  • Builders of 1:35 dioramas with sloping terrain
  • Modelers who want to join a fence to a building or a gable
  • Anyone interested in farm yards and village scenes
  • Those who work with real wood, glazes and pigments

The accessory is supplied as a laser-cut wooden part for assembly, unpainted. The glue, the paints and any further scenery materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It lets the fence follow sloping terrain or join a taller building without leaving a gap at the top.

Yes, but the angled edge shows to best effect where the scene really climbs or where the fence joins a building.

Mark the run of the slope before gluing and lay the fence against it dry. Only then glue it in and hide the joint with the ground using pigment and scenery material.

No. The package contains the wooden part alone; the glue and the paints have to be obtained separately.
